Mr James Tibbott

James is a Consultant Gynaecologist offering general gynaecological services, advice and treatment for chronic pelvic pain and menstrual dysfunction.
His main areas of interests include:
- Advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) and minimal access surgery for the diagnosis and excision of all stages of endometriosis
- The removal of fibroids and cysts
- Total laparoscopic hysterectomies
James leads for gynaecological robotic surgery within his CSU and can offer robotoic surgery for all of the above.
He adopts a holistic and patient-centred approach providing a diverse range of evidence-based treatment options including conservative, medical and surgical management.
In his spare time he enjoys visiting art galleries and spending time outdoors with his two young children.
Robotic Surgery for Compelx (Stage 4) Endometriosis and Other Conditions
Mr Tibbott and his team are the first in Yorkshire to offer robotic surgery for complex endometriosis and other non cancerous gynaecological conditions.
Multidisciplinary care is essential when providing safe and effective care for stage 4 endometriosis. At Yorkshire Endometriosis, we work alongside Consultant colorectal and urology colleagues to ensure you receieve oustanding care from other specialities when required.
If you have stage 4 endometriosis and you elect to have robotic surgical management, you will be less likely to require a large bowel resection and stoma formation.
Other benefits of robotic surgery include:
- Quicker operative time (meaning less complications from anaesthesia)
- Improved accuracy for disease excision
- Reduction in operative complications (such as blood loss)
- Reduction in post operative complications (such as infections)
- Less post-operative pain
- Quicker recovery
Most insurance companies cover robotic surgery for complex endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions e.g. fibroids
General Gynaecology
We also offer:
- Outpatient hysteroscopy clinics and clinical expertise for the management of menstrual dysfunction (including heavy menstual bleeding)
- Comprehensive management plans for pre-menopausal and post-menopausal symptoms. James will support you in understanding and navigating the vast range of hormone replacement therapies. He is also able to offer medications that may not be available in local hospitals such as testosterone replacement
- Management of PCOS and amenorrhea
Transgender Care
James is the link clinician for Leeds Gender Identity Services (GIDS). He supports the service by offering surgical care in people's gender affirmation journeys.
